The first family of West Hudson soccer By Jim Hague Mickey Rusek never thought that he would have become such a huge influence on his two sons, Michael and John, that they would want to pursue a similar career as he had, namely as a soccer coach.

“You never know how things are going to happen,” said the patriarch of the Rusek family, easily the first family of West Hudson soccer. “I guess I got them ready to coach.”

Incredibly, all three were together this season for the first time, with Michael serving as head coach and John and Mickey as assistants, at Harrison High School, helping the Blue Tide secure the NJSIAA Group I state championship.
