Observer - Sonny McKeown YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE: THISTLE F.C. SONNY MCKEOWN MAKES HALL OF FAME By Celeste Regal I never meet Sonny McKeown, the 2008 Inductee for the Thistle Football Club Hall of Fame, but by the end of the night of the Annual Hall of Fame Awards Dinner on Saturday night Nov. 22, those who spoke of him conjured up the “Big Man” and I left knowing I missed an extraordinary Scotsman. It happily coincided with the re-opening of the Scots Club Dance Hall. The seventh anniversary of McKeown’s death was Nov. 25 and his wife Susie, who obviously loved him dearly, said the time of year was always hard for her but the great festivities and support of the Thistle soccer family made the emotions change course. “I’m feeling really happy. I made it so much easier,” Mrs. McKeown said. “He was a good coach. He would yell and scream so they would do well.” read more of this story by Celest Regal
